Dr. Peter Matthias Reuss has officially assumed the role of Ambassador of Germany to the Czech Republic, presenting his credentials to President Petr Pavel at Prague Castle. He succeeds Andreas Künne, who concluded his four‐year tenure in August.
Ambassador Reuss is a seasoned diplomat with a career spanning decades, having served since 1994 in various posts including UNESCO in Paris (2019-2023), leading humanitarian affairs at the German Foreign Office, and prior assignments in Ankara, Tallinn, and Brussels, among others. In his remarks, Reuss expressed deep respect for the close cultural ties between Germany and the Czech Republic, a shared commitment to democratic values, and an eagerness to collaborate not just with national authorities, but also with regional and municipal partners.
