Farewell to Swiss Embassy’s Jürg Schneider
On June 26, the Swiss Embassy in Prague had the honor of bidding farewell to Mr. Jürg Schneider, Head of the Swiss Contribution Office in Prague and Bratislava. His departure marks not only the end of his tenure in the region but also the conclusion of a distinguished and multifaceted career within the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

American Embassy Led by Wisner
The U.S. Embassy in Prague has welcomed David Wisner as its interim head, serving as chargé d'affaires until the new ambassador arrives. Wisner introduced himself to the Czech public in a video, revealing his previous visit to Prague over two decades ago as a student. He expressed his excitement about exploring the city with his family and, as an avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast, looks forward to discovering the Czech countryside. Acknowledging his pre-arrival reading of works by Franz Kafka, Václav Havel, and Jan Neruda, he also sought further recommendations for Czech authors.
Wisner, a career diplomat with previous postings in Sudan, Albania, and the Central African Republic, stated in English that the embassy team plans to collaborate with the Czech Republic to advance President Trump's and the American people's priorities, including strengthening trade, investment, and NATO. Nicholas Merrick, President Trump's nominee for Ambassador to the Czech Republic, is currently awaiting confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Merrick, a businessman and investor, recently stated in a Senate committee hearing that he would push for increased Czech contributions to NATO's defense capabilities and advocate for a balanced trade policy to address the existing trade deficit.

Among them was His Excellency Mr. Martin Muránsky, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic, resident in Prague.
Ambassador Muránsky‘s appointment underscores the strong and enduring bilateral ties between the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Prior to this role, Mr. Muránsky served in various capacities within the Slovak diplomatic service. His extensive experience in international relations and his deep understanding of Czech-Slovak relations are expected to further strengthen cooperation across political, economic, and cultural spheres.

Ester Lauferová appointed new Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Lebanon
She began her career in 1999 as the head of a humanitarian mission in western Kosovo. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she first served in Iraq from 2003 to 2004. She then worked for the International Organization for Migration in Iran and the Netherlands, as well as for the United Nations Mission in Afghanistan. She later acted as a consultant for non-governmental organizations in the Middle East.
In 2008, she returned to Czech diplomacy, serving for two years in the office of the First Deputy Minister as the envoy for the civilian and military mission in Afghanistan, and subsequently as the Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan. From 2012 to 2015, she held the position of Consul General in Istanbul. Since 2023, she has been working in the Department of Middle East and North Africa.

The new Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Czech Republic will be Martin Muránsky
He has previously held management positions at the Institute of Philosophy of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and on the Board of Directors of the educational and publishing institute ASA (Analyses–Strategies–Alternatives).
Martin Muránsky is a Slovak philosopher with many years of experience in the environment of the National Council of the Slovak Republic and in the Board of Advisors to the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic.

Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Czech Republic
Jašar Teymur Oglu Alijev will serve as the new Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Czech Republic, with his residence in Prague.
He has an extensive diplomatic career, having previously served as Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the United States and as Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN).
His expertise lies in international diplomacy and multilateral relations, particularly in engaging with major international organizations.

Ambassador of Jordan to the Czech Republic
Muhammad Hindawi will be the new Jordanian Ambassador, but he will reside in Vienna, Austria.
In addition to representing Jordan in the Czech Republic, he is also Jordan’s Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organizations in Vienna.
His previous diplomatic postings have included roles within the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Jordan’s missions to key European countries.

Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Czech Republic
Ángela Marianna Vigliotta Mellová will serve as Ambassador of the Dominican Republic but will also reside in Vienna.
Her responsibilities extend beyond the Czech Republic; she is also accredited as ambassador to Austria, Hungary, Serbia, and Slovenia.
She has a distinguished career in diplomacy, having previously held positions in France and Belgium, with a strong focus on European and multilateral relations.
