The Institute of International Relations Prague recently held its traditional summer cinema event, focusing this year on the topical issue of the gig economy. The evening began with opening remarks by IIR Director Mats R. Braun, who welcomed guests and introduced Canadian Ambassador Emily McLaw (photo, left), who highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing the social impacts of technological advancements.
Following the discussion, attendees viewed the 2021 Canadian-French documentary The Gig Is Up by director Shannon Walsh, exploring new forms of digital-age work. Supported by the Canadian Embassy in the Czech Republic and organized in partnership with the One World human rights documentary festival, the event fostered a friendly yet thought-provoking atmosphere.
