H.E. Alan Gibbons, Ambassador of Ireland to the Czech Republic, and Dr. Ernesto Vasquez del Aguila recently hosted a vibrant garden party to celebrate Bloomsday & Beyond – Celebrating Ireland, Island of Writers. The event combined the richness of Irish literature, music, and culture with an atmosphere of inclusion and dialogue. Among the invited guests was Stanislav Pekárek (on the photo), Director of the Czech AIDS Help Society (ČSAP), who highlighted Ireland’s ongoing support for LGBTQ+ rights and its progressive stance on HIV awareness and destigmatization.
In continuation of this shared commitment, the Irish Embassy has generously offered a second screening of the powerful documentary How to Tell a Secret, which explores personal stories of living with HIV and the importance of coming out. The screening, to be held at ČSAP during Prague Pride, aims to foster respect, empathy, and open conversation. The collaboration underscores Ireland’s role as a partner in promoting human rights and cultural exchange in the Czech Republic.
