President Petr Pavel and First Lady Eva Pavlová welcomed outgoing Polish President Andrzej Duda and his wife to Prague Castle for an official farewell visit, marking the conclusion of President Duda’s ten-year term, consorted by Poland’s Chargé D’affaires Barbara Krystyna Tuge-Erecińska. The decision to make Czech Republic the final stop of his presidency was recognized as a powerful gesture of mutual respect and enduring friendship between the two neighbouring countries.
In his remarks, President Pavel emphasized the deep historical and geographic ties shared by Czech Republic and Poland, including nearly 800 kilometres of common border—one that symbolizes connection, not division. The visit underscored the strong spirit of cooperation, solidarity, and trust that defines Czech-Polish relations. President Pavel expressed gratitude for President Duda’s contributions to strengthening bilateral ties and wished him well in the next chapter of his life. A reception for the Polish leader at the embassy headquarters followed the event.
