The French Embassy in Prague hosted its annual Scientific Awards Ceremony at the historic Buquoy Palace, recognizing the outstanding work of young Czech and Slovak researchers. Presided over by H.E. Stéphane Crouzat (in the center of the photo, in a red tie), French Ambassador to the Czech Republic, and moderated by Nobel Laureate Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, the event brought together academic leaders and members of the Czech Academy of Sciences, including Dr. Tomáš Kostelecký. Now in its 31st year, the program reflects France’s long-standing commitment to scientific excellence and bilateral academic cooperation.
This year, 60 candidates were nominated by their universities or the Academy of Sciences, with 22 prizes awarded across seven disciplines, from chemistry and medicine to humanities and environmental science. Top recipients in each field received research fellowships for one-month stays at French laboratories, reinforcing France’s reputation as a global hub for innovation. Supported by French companies and foundations active in the Czech Republic, the program also serves as a bridge between academia and industry—fostering long-term collaboration and strengthening the scientific ties between France and Central Europe.
