Israeli Ambassador to the Czech Republic Amir Weissbrod spent a productive day in Olomouc, holding a series of meetings with regional and academic leaders to strengthen ties between Israel and the region. 🇮🇱🇨🇿
During the visit, Ambassador Weissbrod met with Olomouc Mayor Miroslava Ferancová, the Rector of Palacký University Olomouc, Michael Kohajda, and Deputy Governor of the Olomouc Region, Svatopluk Binder.
The discussions focused on expanding municipal partnerships between Olomouc and Israeli cities, increasing tourism from Israel to the region, and strengthening academic collaboration. In particular, the ambassador highlighted opportunities to broaden existing cooperation between Palacký University and Israeli universities into new academic and research fields.
Another important topic of the meetings was the rich Jewish heritage of Olomouc and its surrounding areas. Participants emphasized the importance of preserving this historical legacy while also using it as a bridge to promote cultural, educational, and tourism cooperation between Israel and the Czech Republic.
